In addition to the domestic French route between Calais and Perpignan, which is being operated since July, the connection to Domodossola now joins as the first international lane in the terminal’s portfolio. The new service is scheduled to start on 13 December 2021, with a frequency of four weekly trips in each direction, to be soon increased to six weekly trips.
Semi-trailers are loaded horizontally and in parallel on and off special railcars, which means that an entire intermodal train can be handled fully automatically within 20 minutes. Like on all CargoBeamer lanes, both cranable and non-cranable semi-trailers as well as containers, hazardous goods, P400, frigo and bulk trailers can be transported in a climate-friendly manner by rail.
As preferred partner of CargoBeamer, Trans Modal adds this service to its portfolio thus providing access to this new opportunity of cost optimisation, in the path to more efficient and sustainable transports.
